Is liquid silicone safe for augmentation of
the face?
Liquid silicone has been around for 50
years and is widely used in cosmetic surgery. The FDA has not approved this
substance for cosmetic use, but many doctors do use it to augment almost
everything on the surface of skin. There are ample reports online about the
negative aspects of liquid silicone such as small nodules at the injection site
and even a severe lung condition known as pneumonitis. The other thing that you
should know before you have liquid silicone injected is that once it has
entered your body, there is no way to remove it. Even if there is a
complication, there is no way to remove this substance without causing
disfigurement.
There are always some surgeons who claim
the product is safe but they only say do to promote their business. These surgeons
do not give a shit about patients-they are only interested in making money.
Best advice, stay away from liquid silicone. While it can produce great
cosmetic results- there are times when thing do go wrong. And with liquid
silicone, damages are permanent.
