Steroids and swollen face

I was started on a high dose of corticosteroid for my sarcoidosis and now I have developed a swollen face and neck. Is there anyway to reverse this?

Unfortunately you have developed a well-known side effects of steroids- moon facies and humped neck. This is common when high dose steroids are used for long periods. If you continue to require steroids, then this side effect is unavoidable. Ask your doctor if the dose can be lowered or the therapy can be discontinued. Do not stop the steroid without first speaking to your doctor. Steroids usually have to be tapered off slowly. The only good thing is that the side effect is reversible when the corticosteroid is stopped.
