Recurrent hives

I have been getting hives all summer and the antihistamines do not appear to work. Is there anything else I can take?
Yes, ask your doctor for a prescription of corticosteroids. These medications will rapidly improve the hives. If your hives are chronic, you may want to try the antidepressant, doxepin. IT is an excellent drug, the only drawback is that it can cause sedation- so you have to take it at bedtime. It is also relatively cheap. Creams like capsaicin do not help and are expensive. Hope this helps
